Recommended to do this after you find a venue and 6-8 months BEFORE your wedding. It takes a long time for dresses to be made, shipped, and prepared. Also don't forget that most dresses need altered. This can add 1-2 months of waiting.
Although a venue is not required, it does give you a good idea of the vibe you want for your wedding. (Consider if you booked a log cabin venue for winter but are looking at summer tea party dresses!)
Bring your Pinterest board
Please bring your wedding dress inspiration to your appointment. This helps your stylist get an idea of what dresses to show you.
PRO TIP: Check out the designers that your bridal shop carries. If you love designers like Sophia Tolli, you can visit their website and check out shops that carry her near you. You can then look online to see what kind of dresses she has designed, and your shop may have that available to try on!
Be open to options
You never truly know what could look flattering on you until you at least try it on. Every designer has a signature feature. Wedding dresses are different than your regular department store dresses. They are designed with YOU in mind.
Wedding dress shopping is a luxury experience. Why not take the opportunity to explore what's out there?
Order early and set up payment plans
Again, wedding dresses can take a long time to come in. If they're special order, they'll take even longer. Unless you're buying off the rack, order ASAP. This lets you have enough time for alterations.
